Kingsnympton Re-launch

October 2009 was an exciting month for Kingsnympton Youth & Community Centre! Not only did it celebrate its 13th birthday on the 19th but on Saturday 24th its doors were open to all the community for a centre re-launch.
The purpose of the re-launch was to get the local community back into the building and let them know what the centre has to offer and the direction the centre wishes to go in, also to recruit members for the local clubs and gain their opinion on what they feel could better the club.
The day was a success with many young people and adults alike turning up to view the building and gain information on the user groups and what they offer.
As well as many of the local community turning up we were also pleased to have the following distinguished guests:
- Robert Westlake & Marit Mohn of the Personal Development Trust (PDT) UK, a charitable organisation who support not only Kingsnympton Youth & Community Centre but the area of Kingsnympton as a whole and further afield (the PDT has recently funded new computers for the centre)
- Councillor for the Coombe Hill ward Patrick Codd
- His Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Councillor Ian McDonald
- Local member of parliament for Richmond Park and North Kingston Susan Kramer
As well as these notable guests we were also joined by many representatives of the Council who my thanks go out to.
During the event young people were able to get their faces painted and participate in sporting activities, everyone also witnessed a demonstration of Capoeira (Brazilian martial art) and then given the opportunity to take part in learning some basic movements.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the day who made it the great success that it was.
