Football Funday

Football match

On Wednesday 2nd of June 2010 not only was it a great day weather-wise but a great day for 2 competing youth clubs.

At the request of the young people who attend, a football match was organised between Searchlight and Kingsnympton to go head to head in a 5-a-side match. This was an opportunity for not only the young people to showcase their skills but for staff to get involved too as the 2 youth workers lent a helping hand to their respected sides.

It was a hard fought game with Kingsnympton making a great start, at one point leading 5-1 but Searchlight made a spirited comeback narrowing the margin to just 5-4 at half time. With the second half underway Kingsnympton once again found their rhythm and this resulted in a score line of 8 (Kingsnympton) – 6 (Searchlight) at the final whistle.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the match as well as those that came out to support, as both clubs were well represented. As it was expected for a good turn out the day was more than football, also including a barbeque, rounders, frisbee and a tug of war which Searchlight won (2 wins to Kingsnympton’s 1).

Both staff and young people alike enjoyed the day and plan to work together again in the future.
