New Drivers
Congratulations!
You've just passed your driving test and we're sure you want to keep your precious new license - remember that now you've passed, you're on a two year probation period. If you get 6 penalty points within this period, you'll lose your licence and have to take the test all over again.
Drivers aged between 17 and 25 are among the most likely to be involved in road traffic accidents. Some of the most common causes for accidents in this age group are speed, lack of experience, and distractions such as music or friends.
Here are some things you should avoid while driving, and how much they could cost you in points:
- Speeding - 3 to 6 points.
- Traffic light offence - 3 points.
- Careless and inconsiderate driving - 3 to 9 points.
- Driving without insurance - 6 to 8 points.
- Failing to stop after an accident or failing to report an accident - 5 to 10 points.
- Failing to identify the driver of a vehicle - 3 points.
- Driving when disqualified - 6 points.
- Driving other than in accordance with a licence - 3 to 6 points.
Improve your driving skills
