Multi-Activity Day at Albany ParkLocation: Albany Park Canoe and Sailing Centre Have great fun getting to grips with a variety of activities, including kayaking, open canoeing, bell boating, dragon boating, raft building and problem solving. This fun day will give you better boating skills and awareness – and if you’ve never tried it before, now’s your chance! Please bring a spare set of warm, dry clothes to change into, two sets of old clothes and shoes to take part in (not jeans - jogging suits and old trainers are excellent), wash kit and towel, a packed lunch, sun cream (waterproof) and hat are also advisable. |

On this course you’ll learn how to make your headlines stand out and articles engaging. Please bring along an article that has grabbed your attention on the first day. |
Passion for FashionLocation: The Hollyfield School RedBorder Ltd presents Passion for Fashion – an Introduction to Visual Merchandising. Ever wondered what it is like to dress shop windows like Harrods, M&S, or Primark? Yes? Well here is your opportunity. This week long master class will teach students the basics of visual merchandising: displays, promotions, advertising techniques, dressing mannequins. This will culminate in a mannequin styling and dressing competition where fabulous prizes and a coveted trophy can be won. |
Teen Learn to SwimLocation: Kingfisher Leisure Centre Wish you could swim? Never quite managed to learn? Don’t wait any longer! Come along and try some new skills and have fun learning to swim with our fully qualified ASA swimming teacher. Suitable for ages 11 to 15. |
Yoga for SportLocation: The Venner Youth Centre Whatever sport you practice, yoga will help you get more out of it by giving you an all-round workout for your mind and body that keeps you in top condition. The yoga poses release physical tension, improve flexibility and reduce injuries. Breathing techniques help to balance your energy levels and the relaxation exercises improve concentration. |
Football SkillsLocation: Dickerage Adventure Playground Come and enjoy a five-a-side football coaching session every Tuesday between 29 July to 26 August and improve your football and teamwork skills. Great practice and training for the next Goals tournament. |
Relax with Yoga - Coping with Exam StressLocation: Hook Recording Studio Yoga is an ancient form of relaxation which can help to clear the mind and improve physical health. Exercises include controlled breathing and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. During these sessions you will explore a range of basic yoga positions, which will help you relax and focus during those stressful exam periods! Also running on Friday 8 and 15 August. |

Get Up! Get Out! Get Active!Location: The Venner Youth Centre Are you planning the same old summer, sitting at home watching those dull TV programmes, thinking about how maybe you wished you were a little fitter? Wanting to get a little bit more active but don’t know where to start? Well with “Get up! Get out! Get active!” now is your chance! Come and join in a range of physical activities that will not only get you fit, but will be exciting and challenging. Get a taste for adventurous activities, such as climbing, canoeing, water skiing, gym, dance groove, yoga and a variety of other sports, including rollerblading. Have fun learning to cook various healthy meals and get an understanding of nutritional food getting you motivated to create your own healthy diet. All this, plus a great day out at the ‘Albany Canoe and Sailing Centre’ including a healthy BBQ. Best of all, you have the opportunity to enjoy a full day’s programme at a Virgin Active Health Club. Here you can take part in classes such as spinning, water aerobics or circuit training and have a leisurely swim in the pool just after you have had your hour in the gym with a personal trainer, who will advise you on a fitness program to meet your needs. Apart from having great fun and getting fit, you can even achieve accreditations. Also running during the week of 11 - 15 August. |
Stage Pro - Musical Theatre SchoolLocation: United Reformed Church Spend an exciting week developing your acting and dance skills. Work with a professional musical theatre director and a choreographer to learn performance techniques, creating strong characters and quality dance routines. At the end of the week (Saturday 9 August at 2pm) you will take part in a performance for an invited audience. Run by MeWe. |
Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership (14+)Location: Coombe Boys' School This two week course offers a nationally recognised qualification for all of you budding football coaches! If you have a get up and go attitude and a desire to help others, then this award is made for you. Above all it’s a fun course, open to all and helps people to grow and develop. Candidates must be at least 14 years of age to start the award but you don’t need to be a sports star. Runs daily from 4 - 7 August and 11 - 14 August. |
Stage Combat and SwordplayLocation: The cornerHOUSE Ever wondered how actors train for those spectacular fight sequences on stage and in films? Under expert tuition, you will learn safe techniques for stage combat and sword fighting. Using scripts from plays, a variety of stage swords and a sequence of movements you will bring those fight scenes to life just like the professionals. A must for any amateur or professional actor, or those interested in stage fights. |
Beauty Course (3 days)Location: Fountain Youth Centre / Serenity Beauty Salon Learn the skills to make yourself look and feel continuously beautiful with a three day beauty course. Learn the beauty tips you will not be able to live without. Have you ever wondered what style of makeup suits you best? Have you ever wondered what makeup products are best for your type of skin? Have you ever wondered how to make your nails look great? Have you ever wanted to get FREE information and advice about how to look after your skin and keep your nails looking good from a professional beautician? If you answered YES to any of the above, your next move is to put your name down for this excellent free course. Please bring your makeup along for the first day and any nail or hand products on the second. On the last day we shall meet at the Fountain Youth Centre and go by minibus to the Serenity Beauty Salon for your fabulous beauty treatments! |
Fashion Accessories: FeltmakingLocation: The Hollyfield School Make a unique handbag or an original hat that you know you will like! Learn how to create a gorgeous textile in felt by hand from colourful wool fibres. Developing your own ideas, you will be able to choose your colours and style for a one off fashion accessory that will suit you perfectly. |
Design LayoutLocation: Devon Way Youth Centre A serious amount of thought goes into the magazines you read, layouts being the most important. This course will allow you to design your own front cover and article, whilst learning an industry used design layout package - QuarkXPress. In order for you to get the most out of this course, if you have any of your own photos or images you want to experiment with, please bring them along on a memory stick. Feel free to let us know if there is anything you particularly want to cover during the course. |
Film Making (2 days)Location: Hook Recording Studio Become a film producer for the day! A creative, hands-on course combining music technology, film making and drama. You will gain experience in all areas of film production ranging from capturing dramatic images; composing and editing music; recording voice-overs; film editing and much more. |
Young Composers DayLocation: Hook Recording Studio Are you a budding composer? Want to learn some new techniques and skills when composing? Join us for a practical day of music making where we will explore chord structures, lyric writing, recording and much more. Students will take away a CD of their work. |

Carnival ArtsLocation: The cornerHOUSE Be part of the Carnival experience - the colour, the spectacle, the movement and the music. Learn how to make fabulous costumes that help to tell stories. Get into some exciting street dance and into the moves and grooves that fire the imagination in Notting Hill each year. You too will have the opportunity to take part in the Kingston Carnival on Sunday 31 August. Run by Ereybo Arts with Yaa Asantewaa Carnival Club. |
Midi (Media Skills)Location: Barnfield Youth Centre Do you want a career in the media? Do you want to learn about film making, music production as well as expressing your opinions on a range of different topics? If so then come along to Oxygen MIDI project and be involved in writing, performing, recording and editing the soundtrack or the movie of your life. After first choosing the music or film route (if you feel confident then you can choose both!) you and your team, with the support of the Oxygen tutors, will work together producing a short film or song that you can then take away with you at the end of the week. The results of your project can be used in your portfolio helping you in your next step towards media stardom! |

YADAPA Arts and Music WorkshopsLocations: United Reformed Church (for arts) / Hook Recording Studio (for music) For two weeks this summer YADAPA (Young and Disabled and Positively Artistic) is offering young disabled people aged between 11-19 a chance to come and enjoy a variety of different forms of art. This will include mosaics, sculpting, painting, drawing, sensory art and music. We offer one to one personal assistance if required and free transport within the Royal borough of Kingston. RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Award (16+)Location: The Malden Centre Learn to be a lifeguard! This course will give you a nationally recognised qualification, enabling you to work at a swimming pool as a lifeguard. If you are aged 16 or over and can swim 50m in 1 minute or less, swim 100m continuously and can retrieve an object from a 3m depth, then you can apply for this course. |
Oxygen Drama WorkshopLocation: St. Peter's Church Come along to an Oxygen Drama Workshop and create a street or stage performance from scratch in just a week. Working with Oxygen community drama tutors you first try out a range of drama games and activities before then developing, directing and putting on your own performance all in the space of one week. Learn about film making alongside Oxygen drama and you can also take away a copy of your team’s performance in the form of a short movie. |
