IYAF Youth Advisory Group
Join the Youth Advisory Group and take control!
After a hugely successful first festival in July 2009, IYAF is back and ready to take over Kingston in July 2010. Young people, as part of the Youth Advisory Group in 2009, assisted the festival director in programming the festival, fundraising, selecting artists to be part of the festival and also managed their own projects within the festival.
These projects included the amazing Youth TakeOver gig night which saw a group of young people working as promoters, event managers, artist liaison, bookers and programmers, working with professional festival event management companies and professional bands. Youth Produce saw a group of young people running a new writing competition across Kingston and producing the winning piece for the Studio, Rose Theatre. Young people worked as directors, producers, fundraisers, performers and in marketing. This production was one of the most successful pieces performed during the festival.
Now it is your opportunity to take control of IYAF 2010. We are looking for young people aged 10 – 26 who want to be part of managing, producing and developing the festival. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from professional event managers & artists and allows opportunities for your ideas to be listened to and showcased at a 10 day festival which last year saw over 40 youth groups consisting of over five hundred young people from across the UK and the world participate.
IYAF is searching for young people from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines and interests to contribute to the festival. Even if you may not think you are interested in ‘The Arts’ your ideas and contributions are still valuable.
Please contact Aniela Zaba, Festival Director on aniela@iyafestival.org.uk or on 0208 547 6909 if you would like to be involved.
