Contemporary dance performance by the Kingston Youth Dance Company

The Play/Act Company

Learn new skills, meet new friends and be part of a group that helps you be creative.

Join the Play/Act Company, a new youth theatre group at the Rose Theatre, Kingston. The Play/Act Company is for young people between the ages of 11 and 18 who live in the borough of Kingston-upon-Thames.

Members of the company will meet once a week to build their drama skills, but Play/Act is also about having fun and expressing yourself. You will learn how to use your voice and body on stage and how to work with others to create exciting theatre that your friends and family can enjoy. Being part of the Company will take a big commitment but if you’re ready for the challenge, the rewards will be great. You’ll get the chance to see your ideas come alive on stage and gain greater confidence in your creative abilities.

The Play/Act Company will be made up of 2 separate groups:

Both groups will run for a 14 week season from September to December, 2009. At the end of the year, members of the Play/Act Company will be able to renew their membership for another 14 week season running from January to April, 2010.

If you would like to apply, please fill in the application form (link at the bottom of the page) and return it to your teacher or deliver it to the stage door at the theatre. You don’t need to have had any previous experience in drama to apply for the Play/Act Company.

All you need to do is tell us what you would like to gain from being part of the Company and what you think you could contribute to it.

Applications are currently closed.

Once we have received your application we will decide whether to invite you for a workshop audition which will take place at the theatre in early August. Good Luck!
