D of E Camping Poem

A yellow camping tentOn the mini bus waiting to go
The weight of our bags was beginning to show

Carrying tent, food and clothes we had no choice
When we put on our bags we looked like a tortoise

We were nervous about the weather, rain, fog and frost
We were also worried about the food, arguments and getting ridiculously lost!

We were dropped off in the forest by a pub
And already our heavy bags were beginning to rub

We waved at the cute horses who were nice from afar
Not for the first time, we wished we had a car!

Butterflies flew and rabbits hopped everywhere
By this point everyone had stopped worring about their hair!

We lunched by a river and our sandwiches we did begin,
By the end of our lunch we'd all fallen in!

We discovered walking in wet boots was not much fun,
I had wet hair, wet clothes and even a wet (pause) shirt...

There were lots of trees and bushes as well,
I banged my head on a branch and down I fell!

The trees made it hard to navigate,
And by the time we made it to camp we were all very late,

Putting up the tent was easy for us,
But then again we are very adventurous,

We had arguments over cooking and washing up,
But the main tragedy was I had lost my cup!

Our half cooked pasta was not like home
I dreamt of mum's cooking and my stomach did groan!

We feasted on sweeties and Mars® bars galore
But there wasn't a Tesco's and we wanted some more!

We gathered beside the camp fire which gave off heat
We talked about experiences and aching feet!

We annoyed other campers by singing loud songs,
And annoyed our tent mates with mysterious pongs!

The ground was really hard and the wind blew cold,
By the end of the evening I felt 80 years old

The toilet block seemed millions of miles away,
But peeing behind a bush suited us ok!

We snuggled in our sleeping bags in our warm tent,
And we hoped all the pegs would hold and weren't too bent!

We played tricks on each other by making practical jokes,
Creepy noises screams, grunts and croaks!

It was hard to sleep we were all squashed in,
We felt like sardines in a very small tin!

The warmth of our friends kept us cosy all night,
From 10 to 7 and the morning light,

Waking up in the morning was a struggle for some,
But most were interested in the rumbling of their tum!

Repacking our bags was a real pain,
And we began to question if we were all sane!

Off we went again with a song in our heart,
Although our bodies were aching and falling apart!

What kept us going was thoughts of a long hot bath!
We didn't realise it would be so taaarf! (tough)

Arriving back at the mini bus we all shouted with glee
We passed the bronze award, as you can see.
