Contraception Qs

Does wearing a condom affect performance?
Wearing a condom during sex shouldn't affect your sexual performance or make sex any less fun. They come in all different sizes, ranges of colours, textures, and even flavours! You can also get ribbed ones, which can help stimulate you and your partner, making sex more enjoyable.

Condoms help make sex safer by giving you protection against sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy. They are highly effective when used properly, but remember that no form of contraception ever gives you 100% protection.

Does wearing two condoms at the same time make you extra safe?
No! You should never use two condoms at once - this also includes using both male and female condoms at the same time. What happens is that the two condoms rub against each other and increase the chances of breaking making them useless.

Is the withdrawal method a reliable method of contraception?
This involves pulling the penis out of the vagina before ejaculation to prevent pregnancy. It is not a reliable method of contraception on its own (i.e. without using barrier contraceptives like condoms), as it does not prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted infections and also there is still a risk of pregnancy. Fluids released by the penis during sex before ejaculation (known as "pre-cum") can still contain sperm and cause pregnancy. There is also the risk of not pulling out in time, as some men lack the experience of knowing when they are about to ejaculate.

Your body Qs

What is 'normal' penis size?
In the same way that everyone is different (tall, short, thin or fat), every penis is different and unique. You and your friends will most likely have varying penis sizes. There's no universally agreed on 'average' size', although most men typically have a penis length anywhere between 5 to 7 inches when fully erect.

When not erect, the size of the penis can vary between individual guys. Some men have an average penis length of around 3.5 inches when flaccid (not erect) which grows to the erect length when sexually aroused. Other men can have a penis that changes very little and stays relatively the same length at all times when either flaccid or erect.

In case you're thinking of measuring yourself up right now, it's important to remember that your penis size will grow during puberty and not reach it's full size until you reach adulthood.

Penis size is not really important, as most people will tell you that it's what you do with it that counts - the size of your penis doesn't define whether or not you are a good lover.
