Festivals
Festivals are a brilliant, simple as that. If it's the first time you are going there is little point in us telling you what to expect because that's just ruining your fun. One thing we will help out with though is what to take.
The obvious and important, your ticket and tent
Sleeping bag
I get on rather well with my sleeping bag it’s comfy and I have no trouble sleeping esp. if I’ve spent the last 20 hrs up. But if you’re fussy you can get a cheap inflatable lilo from Millets or Argos to help ensure a good nights sleep.
Deodorant, Tooth brush and toothpaste – basic hygiene people, don’t forget it.
Torch - very handy
Wet wipes - again very handy for cleaning up
Wellies
One thing you can’t guarantee is the weather, if it does decided to chuck down with rain and you find your feet sinking in sludgy mud I can assure you there’s little chance your shoe will still be on when you pull your foot out, so I would suggest wellies.
A lightweight water proof
I hate to admit it but those plastic ponchos are a wise move, you are likely to be hot whatever the weather, when you’re dancing about or crushing into the crowds the last thing you want is a big bulky jacket to lug about.
A comfy jumper
You can throw it over anything, very handy in the evenings when it gets a bit cooler. Folded up this also double up as a pillow, space saving
Plastic bags
For clothing that gets wet or muddy shoes, also handy for sitting on if the ground is damp and you don't fancy getting a wet bum.
Toilet roll
It becomes invaluable once in the site, but keep it in a sealable plastic bag, the kind your mum uses for your sarnies, because a wet loo roll is pretty useless.
Sun protection no brainer really
Condoms cause you never know.
One thing I always do is over pack, being a girl I need to be able to co-ordinate items so end up with too much stuff. One way to combat this by sticking to dresses, and not those maxi monstrosities they just aren’t practical or flattering.
Boys your uniform is pretty much jean + t-shirt, so stick to that. Or shorts if its warm enough and you think your legs could do with airing.
Dry shampoo a must have if you have longish hair or are prone to fiddle with it. Shake it up well spray it on the greasiest parts, the roots and brush out. Ta-daa! Clean hair!
I also found these fab things called Travel Johns 'loo' basically a bag for you to relieve yourself of any fluids. . . you know what I mean.
Google it, we found it most amusing but very practical if you dare not face the portaloos or don’t think you’ll make it, personally don't blame you 1. They are nasty 2. Why would anyone want to camp near them,if you do come day 2 you’ll regret it.
