If you're feeling down or under so much pressure that you think you're going nuts - don't worry. You're not alone. Most of us have probably experienced times when we've felt the same or been in a similar situation. Along with most of the topics covered here, we've tried to include links to more information and support.

General tips for mental and emotional wellbeing

If you've got any sort of issue affecting your mental state, there are some general things you can do to make yourself feel better or improve your situation:

Let it out
Don't keep your feelings bottled up inside - talk to someone about your problems. Whether it's a friend, family members or someone else you can trust (such as a school counsellor or your teacher) you'll find that talking to someone can take a load off your mind. It's better to have support through your problems than dealing with them on your own.

Get active
If you're under stress or depressed, then getting out and about and doing something positive can take things off your mind and make you feel better. Try an activity like dancing, playing an instrument, meeting with friends, sports or something else you enjoy and you might find that things don't seem so bad.

Chill out
If you're under pressure or have a hectic schedule, then it's important for you to take some time out and relax. Read a book, listen to some music, watch some TV or even take a bubble bath. You'll feel more refreshed after a break and ready to deal with whatever comes your way.

Seek support
If you have a big problem and don't feel you can cope on your own, then there are lots of people who can help and sources of information to guide you. Talk to people close to you, visit some of the sites in our links or do a Google search for advice or organisations that can help.
